Would you buy this Evo ix?

I having been searching for a long time for my Evo ix. Recently I've stumbled upon a 2006 TB Evo IX MR. There are only 35k miles on the ODO. The paint looks great, but the engine bay has me worried. The paint is almost all gone on the heatshield. Is this normal for a car with such low miles? To me it looks like the turbo may have gotten too hot or something. Any input would be helpful!

That looks like a Graphite Gray to me and the heat shield does wear-out due to the heat of the manifold; it's normal.

dont judge a book by its cover.....bring it to a reputable shop, one that specializes in evos if possible, and have them look it over.

Don't worry about the stock heat shield cover, they all look like ****. Run a car fax, take it for a test drive to see if everything checks out fine. Then if you like it, get it checked out by a reputable shop.

I wouldn't exclude it from my options ofr peeling paint on a heat shield, but I'd have to see more pics and know the asking price to give you an answer.

Looks pretty much stock and IMO that's a good thing. If it checks out I'd say that's a fair price for that yr and model.

try to haggle it down to 23,000 at the very least, 26,000 is too much.

Yeah, price is high, I got my '04 in '06 with 13k from carmax for 27k---that was a fair price then.

carmax is expensive, but an Evo 8/9 in good condition is hard to find.

I think they're also no-haggle pricing?

Regarding the heat shield, that looks completely normal.

Where's the basis for the depreciation for people who think a car that stickered at 35K 4yrs ago with only 35K miles is now only worth 23K? That's nearly half of what that car cost to drive off the lot originally. You can't go out and buy a 4 yr old luxury car for 1/2 it's sticker price. If that were true my DD would be an 06 Range Rover Sport. FWIW...kbb retail on that car is 27.6K.
