how to tell what my car is?
I was talking about trim packages. The ACD was not a trim package. It was already said that his car was an 03. No ACD in USDM cars in 03.
If you're going to correct me at least have the right information. I did in fact say that the RS trim was available in 04, but the only way the MR was available in 04 is if you were talking about a 2005 model year car. So if you meant that you could buy an MR in 2004 then yes you are correct. Is there a 2004 Evo that had an MR trim....NO!!!
Until I see a window sticker then I'll stick with what I said. It makes no sense to me that the SSL package was available in 2004 (it most certainly was not available in 2003). My 2004 does have the leather and sunroof and system, but the part that confuses me is that 2003 and 2004 Evos already have HID's standard. As far as I'm aware the SSL trim didn't become official until 2005. You can get SSL stuff in 03-04, but it wasn't designated a trim. Just like you can get 2003 Evos with just the sunroof and nothing else.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong...with proof. Not hearsay.
And technically we never got a GSR model Evo. We only call it that here, but it's not a GSR. GSR's have 6 speeds in Japan. US Evo 8's are more closely related to GT trim Evos.

Like it's been said 03 only came in the one trim. You could have the options of sunroof and/or leather (HID's were standard in 03-04), but neither were trim changing. In 04 they added the RS trim (which you would know right away) and in 05 they made the SSL trim along with the RS and MR.

Edit: I am 99% sure SRTRaceR04 is right about the MR but 99% sure he is wrong about the SSL. I dont have proof...but neither does he. I am just going off my experience when I bought my car in June of 2004.

see note above
6 speed is the MR, but that wasn't released until 05
wrong. the RS came in 04. the MR didn't come until 05.
to clear up some misinformation here: in 03 the EVO came with 271hp. 03 there was only the standard EVO 8. in 04 the RS was added. The RS package added an LSD up front that was missing on the standard 03-04 EVO 8.
05 got a power bump to 276hp (these were underrated from the factory), and all 05's, standard 8, RS, and MR got a front and rear LSD, and they added ACD. The MR had the 6 speed, aluminum roof (also on the RS), bilstein suspension, BBS wheels, vortex generator, MR shift knob, cf ebrake handle, and mr badging inside and out.
06 got another power bump to 286hp (more underrated than the 05), and a new front bumper. it retained pretty much all the same features from the 05's. the interior got new seats with leather and alcantara instead of the black/blue cloth of the 8. the dash also got rid of the blue or black plastic, and added a fake CF trim. The IX's also got rid of the silver on the steering wheel, and went to black (looks 100 times better). The MR also came with the "Zero lift kit" which consists of a front air dam under the bumper, a gurney flap on the rear wing, and brake air guides for the front brakes. The SE model was also introduced. The SE took the basic IX and added HID's, a special Diamond Black color BBS wheels, bilstein suspension, aluminum roof, red stitching on the seats, SE badging, a revised front lip, and a 5 speed transmission. there was no 07 EVO, so the SE was basically built with parts from the rest of the world's 07 models (red stitched seats, SE front lip, etc), but without the engine tweaks of the rest of the worlds 07 models.
as for the SSL package details and all that, I was never interested in that extra crap, so I can't tell you what exactly they came with, or when they were offered. I believe the SSL started in 04, and continued through 06. It was offered on the regular 8 and 9.

Didnt read through the whole thread so this maybe was brought up,but I will say that SSL was available in 2004 since I test drove one and it said that right on the window sticker and decided to order one without it instead of buy the one on the lot. So from 2004 on you had to get a sunroof with leather and visa versa. So if you ever see an EVO with sunroof and no leather you know it is a 2003. Also, in 2003 you had the option of the carbon spoiler or OZ Rally one. From 04 on you only got the big wing.
Edit: I am 99% sure SRTRaceR04 is right about the MR but 99% sure he is wrong about the SSL. I dont have proof...but neither does he. I am just going off my experience when I bought my car in June of 2004.
