Why do my stock DV sounds like a crazy turkey ?

Hi folks,

Title is clear but i will repeat it .

I have a completely stock 2006 IX MR with around 51k miles with no tune on the car.

I also have the stock metal DV and since i got the car, the dv sounds like a damn turkey or something that looks like fluttering.

Is my dv is done ? what the hell is doing that sound ?

I pull out the top of my air box to see if the sound would be louder and it is .....

I want to get rid of that crap with a cheap solution please.

Thanks !

Are you the original owner of the car? Check the dv if it is installed backwards. Might be wise to do a boost leak test as well...

When does it do that? Mine did the exact same under low loads in vacuum. I remedied that problem by getting a Forge RS bov

Yes it is fluttering like crazy under low vaccum/boost, but it also does it quickly when I shift in high boost. Is the forge a directly fit replacement ? Does it sound great ?

Check to see if someone stuck a turkey or duck caller in there.

Happened to me once at a car show..

Lol, on cereal note, I would upgrade to a new one if i were you.

Funny, but it could only work on a vta , I can't imagine how it would be possible with a DV.

Anyway, it is not the case.

Yes it's a direct replacement, just make sure you specifically look for the Forge RS model. It comes with an adjustable topcap that adjusts the stiffness of the internal spring. After installing mine and playing around with it, I found that 20-22 clicks from far loose gave me the best of DD and boost holding abilities. Low end flutter is not even existent at all, I did previously put back on my stock ix dv and heard flutter in lowboost normal driving. The stock dv is a nice piece from the factory, but after going with a quality aftermarket piece like the Forge RS I won't be going back.

Post a pic of it, and we'll let you know if it's backwards. Basically, if it's backwards, the top of the dv will be facing up. The top of it should be sideways with the dv dumping the air back into the intake tube.

Update : no need for the pic, it was definitevely backwards and I put it back in normal position ( sideway) . Problem is solve, i have now almost no sound at all and no fluttering. I think it will also solve the problem when that when I was in 4-5-6th gear, just near the boost the car was running like a pig, hesitating.

I just cant beleive that the moron who had the car before never notice that.

Just another thing.

When I took off the DV, the intake plastic tube was dirty as hell, some sort of old black grease . Is it the time to buy me an Oil Catch Can ?

Thanks to everybody to helped me.
