Tranny drop, HELP!!!!!
Tranny drop, HELP!!!!!
Alright, my buddy and I are changing out the clutch on my 03 evo 8. We've been following the write up on evomoto, unfortunately we got stuck trying to get the transmission dropped out and seperated from the engine. We think it may be stuck up on the TOB, but not sure. Managed to get about 1/2 an inch of space between the engine and tranny, but doesn't seem to want to go any further.
Do we need to just pry on it a bit more? Try releasing the TOB some more? any help would be great! Thanks in advance.

if you can't get the fork off the TOB it won't come out... some people have issue with it... an alternative is to unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel... it's time consuming but easy...
First of all bolt the tranny back to the block. I don't think you can get leverage on clutch parts if its loose. Its simple to release the tob when the wedge collar is new but after temperature change the ring clip stiffens up. It will be difficult if you don't understand how the parts work. If you are attempting to do work like this on your car I would recommend understanding how the components work before going at it. If you have another clutch and tob see how the wedge collar works so you understand what you have to do instead of going off instructions that don't explain things.
