Cool New Member (Subaru Guy - Possible Convert)

Hey all, new guy from CT. I'm a Subaru guy looking to possibly switch over to your Darth Vader looking DSM's.

I have owned an '05 STi, an LT1 Trans Am and I am currently in an '04 WRX Wagon. Never driven an Evo, thanks to salesmen denying me test drives when I was shopping my STi (great way to sell cars...).

I know little to nothing about the Evo, so I'm just here trying to get my feet wet and learn a little bit.

Thanks

Hopefully you didn't go from the STI to the LT1 because I'm sure you would be very disappointed lol. I actually still have my LT1 Camaro (owned it since I was 17) and daily drive my Evo now. If your looking for a car that's easier to make power with and is more responsive than the Subaru than go with an Evo. If you want a nice daily driver with some power both cars are great. I would personally love to pick up an STI hatch for daily duty.

That's very common. Most Evo buyers aren't interested in cars that were taken for a test drive, so dealers don't usually allow it. If you sat down with the sales guy and ironed out a price on a specific car, did all the paperwork, etc, then you could drive the car you wanted to buy. Welcome to the forum. FWIW, Evos are not DSMs.

I did actually. It was a whole different animal that's for sure.

Sorry, but there is no way I was agreeing on a number or doing paperwork for a car I was not 100% on and had never driven. I have to imagine this hurts sales.

Apologies, I assumed it was all Mitsubishi's. Learned something already.

No, not at all. This isn't a Camaro. There were ~12-14K Evos produced annually for global consumption. It was never meant to be a sales leader. Every car was pretty much spoken for.

Not really, as FJF has stated. Some larger dealers that have multiple Evos may possible have one that they use for dealer service. But most Evo dealers are small and only get 1-3 Evos a year. It is wiser to not let the car be tainted and abused on demos because most people want them to be unmolested.

Yeah, it is a common mistake, no worries. To most enthusiasts, DSMs are the 4G63T powered cars built between 90-99 in Normal, IL. Which would be Eclipses, Talons and Lasers. All Evos are built in Japan.
