strange numbers on my evos glass

i was detailing my evo the other day and i noticed some numbers etched in the glass, they look like a phone number or something. they appear to be factory but im not sure and i have only seen one other car with something like this on the glass.just wondering if anyone may know.

its a dealer theft deterrent. we used to etch the glass on cars like that all the time. some dealers dont do it.

ya i think if u inform ur insurance about it, it helps with rates. Thats what a sales man told me when i use to work at a dealership... but who knows if thats true.

Some etch in there vin numbers on all their glass, some insurance give better rates with it....I have it on my 02 accord...It was done when it was bought but I'm sure people do it themselves easy too

Check and see if the numbers match your vin number, if so thats what it is. As other people stated some dealers etch the vin on the glass.

It doesnt have to be ur vin# either it also can be a random set of numbers that is registered with dealer/aftermarket company as a locater if vehicle is jacked...

Mine has a random number and a phone number. It is etched on every window. Be sure you write these numbers down and keep it in a safe place just in case. I will ask my insurance agent if that would help my rates, never thought about that.
