I was at 390whp driving on my stock clutch for over 6 months. When I switched to fpblack and meth I had to get the excedy twin.
I would say yes if you don't launch.

Mine made it to 55k. With 20k on 90% of current mods.
Finally starting to slip in 3-4 gears @ 4500.

I only have the car three months, so it seems like prior owner was tame with it.

CC Twin in the mail. I plan on posting impressions.

Mine has lasted me over a year on 400+whp and 400wtq and still is going strong, BUT you know clutches are rated in TORQUE...

I've only launched mine a few times, but still give it a work out very often.

I have an intake and exhaust as far power mods and my clutch is slipping at 24K. To answer your question...the OEM Evo clutch cannot handle much over stock torque. I'm going with the ACT Street Clutch/Flywheel Kit rated @508lbs. You will need a higher rated clutch.

Many will not believe. But it really depends in your style and driving ability. I drove my previous evo with 435whp (666 evo and kevind can verify this) for 2 years. Car ran prefect the day I sold it. Did about 10-12 passes with it to and plenty of highway runs.

Just like most are saying, the OEM clutch will handle over 400whp/tq, but only if you aren't a launching maniac. I've known stock evo owners that killed their clutch in under 10k. As others have said, a lot of it is about how you drive.

Stock clutch = Works best with stock parts. Yes it'll hold for a while even if you don't beat on it with a good amount of power but still its stock. Expect stock results. Be careful on which clutch you choose though, some times the super high rating single discs can hurt your trans/drivetrain more than it helps. Knowledge is power, so investigate every option.
