hi i am new to the evo world and was looking at getting an 04 evo 8. it is all stock except for a exhaust, it is going to be my daily driver will it be reliable so i can trust it to run strong every day? and i do take long trips every once and awhile and just want to make sure it will be a good car for me. i love the speed and power the evo has just want to make sure it has good reliability. if you guys that know them like the back of your hand could help me out it would be much appreciated. thanks.

Well maintained Evos are very reliable. Though I only have about 35k miles on my '06, it has not had a single problem since new. Knock on wood! I might add that for the past 3 years, its been lightly modded and tracked several thousand miles.

Search, there are lots of past threads about Evo reliability.

this should help you some https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...vo-merged.htmlas far as my evo goes...around 78k on mine now, just finally blew the motor after over a year on e85 @ 33psi stock bottom end daily driven. Before, I was 300whp and drove all over the united states with my evo and never had a problem. Take care of the car and it will take care of you.

You shouldnt have a problem as long as you keep up with maintanence. My 06 ix has 72,xxx miles on all service is up to date and still running strong. Ive taken quite a few long distance trips also and its daily driven in all kinds of weather. So i would say that its reliable.

I have an 04' GSR it has 108000 miles and has been driven on very long road trips fully loaded with luggage too. No problems.
I also drag race it 2 to 3 times a month.

I have done the following:
Amsoil dominator 10w-30 every 4000 miles with Amsoil filter
Amsoil severe gear in the Tcase and rear diff
Gates timing and balance shaft belt
Milspec throttle body shaft seals
Hallman MBC
Tuned by "me"
evo 9 turbo 25 psi
exedy twin disk clutch
spoolinup diy cop
mitsu RS helical front LSD

no problems, and I drive it like I just robbed a bank.

On my 8 I drove the first 4 + years without one service issue.
Once the mods started I wasn't able to drive her for weeks.
If your DD your EVO lay off the big mods for reliability.
