Well I just picked up my evo last week. Had exhaust / intake / HKS SSQV and that was it. Since I got it I already got ECUFlash setup. I got a MBC, Wideband, Boost Gauge.
My phone actually has a dyno application that isn't 100% correct but it gives you a rough estimate. It estimated 330whp which is right where I'd like to be. When it gets nicer out, I'll actually go visit a dyno and do some fine tuning.
It's only my daily driver, I just wanted something fun.
I have a 1990 Talon TSi AWD that I bought a couple years ago and completely re-worked with the help of my brother who is the whole reason I got into cars/learned how to work on them to begin with. Ever since I was 12 I was always his helper working on his first car, a 1995 Neon R/T that was all motor with nitrous which then he sold for a 2002 WRX that he has had ever since and now is a complete beast although he finally bought a Supra, and when he gets back from Iraq he'll probably be selling the WRX. I was always his helper and fell in love with the 4cylinder world through it all.
My first car was a 96 GS that I bought in rough shape and we fixed up and spent a total of maybe $1500 including purchase price.. Got into a wreck with a drunk driver ended up getting 7k out of their insurance, not lying. So I got my 90 talon in mint condition stock with a broke timing belt for $1500 with only 60k original miles.
We fixed it up, and I've had it for awhile and my original goal was 300whp, then 400whp, then it's just kept going. I haven't dyno'd in a long time but I ran 10.6@138mph so its definitely in the 500whp area.
Anyways I wanted a new daily driver as I don't much enjoy daily driving my talon anymore. The twin disc clutch is heavy, and I hate sitting outside every morning taking 5 minutes just to get the car to idle.. E85 and the cold suck!! It drives great in town and all just is annoying..
Anyways I don't owe any money, and my bills are relatively light here with the scholar ship I get free dorm just have to pay my utilities. I make decent enough money for only working 30 hours a week so I decided, why not look at a used Evo.. I found this one asking $15000 with only 58k miles, mostly stock and in great shape.
I figured it wouldn't be to bad.. My friends all make it and most of them make less than I do, aren't on any free rides and are paying 10-15k for brand new aveos / cobalts / focuses / kias / other boring cars :P
I figured too if I ever need to I could sell the Evo, and not take a big hit on it as they old value. I figured I'd be paying around $14000 for this after bargaining.. However I talked him down, and he kept his wheels and got all the way down to $11,500 between just bargaining and him keeping his wheels!! Which is fine with me as I prefer the stock Evos!!!
I'm super happy with the decision, SO much of a more refined/nicer car to drive around town than the DSM.
I have to say if I had a choice I'd still build my DSM any day for straight line performance. I just don't feel like I'm in a 'race' car when I'm in the Evo like I do the DSM.
The evo is working GREAT for what I bought it for and I can tell I wont be letting it go for awhile
Pics are from previous owner.. Its been too cold to wash it and the roads are horrible here so its constantly dirty right now. However cleaned up it looks exactly like this except it has the stock EVO's on it now. I bought it from Rockford Illinois, long drive but well worth it!
Debating on going wingless or not right now.

The only things he kept from the car were his subs/ amp/flip out headunit/wheels/seats (which is fine I think the stock seats are a bunch better)
He reinstalled the factory stereo and left in the pioneer speakers, just took the amp/sub/headunit. Which is also fine with me as I prefer the stock headunit a lot compared to that flip out one that was in it.
I went with the full expectation of paying a lot more for the car, around 14000 honestly.. I drove there in my talon on purpose, I wanted him to see what was done to it and not stereotype me as a girl that doesn't know a thing about cars.
I checked everything on the car too, compression, boost leak test, checked it for codes, everything was great. has 58k on it
Really happy with it!

and no I found it listed on autotrader

Jesus, $11 500 for a 9 MR? That is one hell of a deal for an Evo with 58k's on it! If you ever get tired of it, just sell it up here in Canada for $25 000-30 000 as that is the going price for a 9 with that many miles on it here.
Sounds like you grew up with Mitsu's like myself. I miss my 1gb Talon and 2gb GSX everyday
.

wow thats good milage, did you run a carfax to see if the milage is real or matches with the history of the car? Cause the milage is really low for that kind of money, i have seen evo 9 go for lowest 16-17 but 11k is by far the cheapest i have seen in the evo world with low milage and clean title.
