Sorry, did'nt see your post till now....and welcome!
Lots of good cars in Texas when I was looking a couple weeks ago for a IX.
You can race year 'round in SCCA autocross down there, lucky dog.

That's a loaded question. It depends on what you want to do with the car. I have a X MR because 90% of the time I'm just driving it to work and I didn't want to have to shift all the time (yes, I've had plenty of manual transmission cars). I also wanted my wife to be able to have some fun since she can't drive a manual transmission. I don't intend to race this car on a track and will probably make only minor modifications, but not until the warranty is up. The MR is perfect for me. So, you really need to decide what you want from the car before you make any decisions. No matter what you decide, the cars are badassssss.

Welcome to the board from a fellow Texan!

Are you looking to buy new or used? If used, VIII, IX, X or don't you know? Plenty of choices out there. First figure our what you want to spend then decide which model best fits your wants/needs.

I owned a IX first then sold it and bought a X.

Check out Don Herring Mitsubishi (DonMitsu is his screen name on here), he sponsors EvoM and NTEC and generally has tons of new and used Evos on the lot at good prices.
