New X and question.

Picked up a gg evo x last month and so far I love it. I do have a question and before I get flamed to bad, yes I've searched this forum and the internet.

I always change my own oil and just changed my X's oil for the first time. After I was done I notied a fingernail spaced gap between the drain plug's shoulder an the oil pan. Is this a typical gap caused by the crush washer?; because, I noticed no boss welded to the oil pan near the drain. Just curious and wish I'd looked a little closer before I put the plug back in.

I've also attached some photos of the new ride.

The crush washer will hold the bolt head slightly away from the pan. The washer is what seals, not the bolt. If you don't have any drips or leaks there's nothing to worry about unless your pan is dented or damaged in some way.

If you're really concerned feel free to get under the car and snap a few pics for us to take a look at.

Congrats on the new purchase, GG is in my top 3 fav X colors!

Thanks for the reply, not too concerned mostly curious as most my other vehicles just had a flush gasket type washer. I'll check it out tomorrow morning before the SBowl preperations begin and if no leaks it'll have to be gtg.

WW, GG and OB are my top three colors. The wife put her vote on the GG so that sealed the deal. Made it easier to convice her we need to pull the trigger on a new car purchase because she liked the color too.

My wife is also a big fan of white cars since my WW IX. A few weeks after I got my IX she got a pearl white WRX b/c she was jealous I had a turbo again and she didn't
