There is that car im looking at then another one that is a little cheaper has 30k miles and has a few mods. His description is as follows.
Light mods are as follows 3in AMS downpipe 3in Magnaflow CatbackK&N, Typhoon intake, Stage 2 ACT Clutch*ACT street light flywheel*Digital Prosport boost gauge*Digital Prosport AFR gauge (narrow band but wide band compatible)*HKS turbo timer*Stubby Antena35% Tint*work was done professionally at Mach V Motorsports (out of sterling Virginia) and have receipts on record if needed Oil changed religiously every 2500 miles with Mobil 1 full synthetic. An absolute wonderful car to own/drive/love
Does that sound like a car to stay away from, im yet to see a picture of the engine bay.

2. The bad:
- K&N Typhoon intake - Arguably, the worst possible intake for an Evo.
- Digital Prosport AFR gauge (narrow band but wide band compatible) - A narrowband is useless. Not sure how easily it can be converted to a wideband. Most use Innovative, AEM, or Zeitronix units.
The middle of the road:
- New clutch at 30K. Find out when it was installed.
- HKS turbo timer - Not really needed.
The good:
- All parts professionally installed, kept-up maintenance.
Sounds like it could be a good car, perhaps owned by someone who lacked complete familiarity with the platform.

Excellent news all around. My IX has ~16K on it, almost stock, and it's probably one of the cleanest Evos in the country. I have every sticker that came on the car, every original part, every piece of literature...I even have the stock tires mounted on the stock wheels stored (as new). Good to know the prices are hitting such high levels.
I would also say location has a lot to do with it. I live in a Marine city so cars go for a lot more here. Like my car being as heavily modified as it is would probably make it a little difficult to sell for decent money in other places. I've thought about selling it for like $23-24K around here and I bet I would get it too!! I met a guy who (supposedly) paid around $50k for his Nismo 350Z.
And CT9A Evos sell WAAAAAY faster than CZ4A Evos here!! A local lot has had a 2010 MR for like $31k for months. It never moves!! Any time I see an 8 or 9 at a dealership it's never there long!
Well in NJ prices are high. The 06 MR the OP was originally talking about would go for 27k and up. I've seen them at dealers and private sellers fetching that much. It sucks because i see people across the country paying thousands less. Thats why i went to upstate NY to get my car lol
Edit: Have you looked in the classifieds here? There one good thing about buying a car from a forum member vs elsewhere. You can look at his past threads and see what you're getting. You'd be amazed by how much you can tell about a car and how it was treated by reviewing one's posting history.

Well i would say that i like the BBS, because i plan on keeping the car stock appearance wise. But its more the fact i do a decent amount of highway driving on route 80 so the 6th gear is definately nice, less buzzing.

I was in the exact same boat for my search, but ended up with a IX SE myself. I was looking so hard in my area (SF Bay Area) trying to find a stock MR with low miles, but people are asking premium for unmolested ones. After putting some thoughts on what I'm really looking to get out of the car, I decided that the SE has most of what I was looking for (sans the 6-speed and the Bilstein) at a fraction of the price.
Good luck with your search
