I guess i'm a traitor as well. I loved my 20th Anniv Gti but I couldn't be happier with my new evo. After all the money i put into her I just realized that there wasn't any point going any further with a fwd car. I was also getting tired of seeing nothing but air ride and dressed up engine bays in my eurotuner mags.

You know what I love about Evo owners? The surprising lack of the word "bro" at the end of every post. Go check out NASIOC, it's broriffic.

Welcome, as I too am a traitor, but from old school muscle.

HEY WELCOME! i'm a big vw fan, but from the opposite HONDAh's.
I sold my turbo'd k20 integra and purchased an evo VIII. this car is a hell of a machine. it's much slower than my honda for now but corning, traction, a/c, and brembo brakes make it all worth it. Welcome again.

Welcome! I just love that your username is Mr Sunshine

I started off with air cooled VDubs, Ghia's to be exact, and bugs and Type III's. I still love them and looking to build a couple more of them, maybe one like the Buschur's Evo/Willie, but with a Ghia, Bug or whatever can fit on the Evo chassis. But I love the rear wheel drive in a really light car and feeling the front end lift (just a little) on take off

I remember being the traitor with the air cooled versus water cooled guys (bought a Jetta, oops). Then it was the imports v the domestics. Then it was the Honda's versus the other imports, Mitsu's v Subaru's. My brother gets on me because he's into diesel trucks, never mind the fact that I like them too, I just don't have one.

Anyhow, so far the Evo community seems to have higher tolerance for people enjoying all types of vehicles. I see guys on here who once had an Evo or hope to get one soon posting, learning, etc, like yourself.

Get one ASAP! I don't know about other Evo owners, but I want to have one of each (Evo 8, 9, and 10), then maybe some JDM or Euro ones. So the supply maybe going down.

Welcome to the forum! When you get yourself into an EVO, you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner. 320whp in that golf seems a bit excessive, lol.

My GF has always been a Euro fan, and drives a 01 GLX VR6 Jetta. It is getting high miles and we are looking into a MKIV VR6 GLI or GTI with low miles. We might skip the IVs and go straight to a V for the comfort factor, but we will surely miss the amazing sound of a VR6 with exhaust.

The one thing I noticed, is there is a Volkswagen forum that ends with Vortex, and it seems to me that most everyone on there is a bunch of ***holes. If you don't do it the way they like it, it's lame.

Good to see another 'old' guy like me (I'm 45) getting into an Evo. I really didn't come from anything. Just got mostly through raising my kids, house paid off and jumped in with both feet. What I can say about the Evo (I drive a IX) is it's a brutally honest seat of your pants car. I track mine and you can push it hard with confidence. It's a quick car stock, but the way it responds to mods give it a tremendous bang/buck factor.

Hey, guys. I've often thought about starting an over-40 Evo thread. Is anyone interested? I don't want to sit there by myself as the old man on the block.

Blknblubkrdude, I couldnt have said it better myself! I was on VwVortex many times and it gets old when people jump down someones throat just for asking a simple question. People always has something smart to say. The purpose of these forums should be to learn as much as possible about your car without the fear of being ridiculed for asking questions.
