Best Street/Strip clutch
Best Street/Strip clutch
I am currently in the process of sending my transmission out to get a stage 2 rebuild from TRE. That being said I figure I might as well change my clutch too. For the past year and half/11000miles I have been running an ACT 2600 street disc clutch. While this has been a great clutch for DD I do drag race the car. Do to that I just can't stand the high rpm lock outs and I do believe it was the culprit for my 3rd and 4th gear grind. I've looked into the Exedy twin disc but from what I read it does not hold up too well against repeated launches and WOT Shifts. I was also looking into the Competition Clutch Twin Disc. I'm looking for a clutch that can hold about 450tq, can be to DD as well as race, and last some what long (I realize race will only shorten the life of the clutch but I'm not looking for a clutch that I will have to change every 10,000 miles.
If you guys can gimme some ideas i would appreciate it.

Ive heard those same rumors...(about the twin disk)...but mine is proof that most of those claims are false...
im at close to 50k miles on a used twin disk that was rebuilt...im about to rebuild mine because its slipping...plenty of launches...lots of fast shifts...(racing a lot)...not an issue. good luck with your choice...
ive also heard OS Giken is good too...

I had one experience with the exedy twin HD...went out in 3000 miles of daily driving, and yes I do know how to drive a twin disc. A total of maybe 20 launches and one night at the track and it was done. I'll never own another exedy twin.
I have the competition twin with almost 16,000 miles of hard driving and lots of commuting through town. Done tons of launches and it still grabs like day one. And not to mention is a lot less expensive than most of the twins out there.
Talk to Dan at Competition clutch and he'll help you out.
