Need help deciding

Hi,
I'm moving on from dc5 to evo
I had cybernation kit turbo Rsx-s Was my first turbo car (lil project was not tuned all the way) unfortunately one rainy day It got out of control on the freeway and boom :-/.

Okai let's get to the future PROJECT im thinking about
I'm planning on getting an evo 8 or 9 but I'm having a hard time to choose between the models mr or gsr, and between 8 or 9.
8or9?
Personally I love the front end look of evo 8 but if ther are differences between the engine or transmission of 8 and 9 which ever engine and Transmision is better thats what I'm going for....( I can always change the front bumper no big deal) from what I read only difference between 8 and 9, is that the evo 9 has a much stronger and powerful turbo (which not a big deal I'm going for Ets turbo kit or ams turbo kit)
Wat u guys say on this 8or9?
Mr vs gsr?
alot of the threads I read people say that if you are planning to do a heavy mod on the car, go for the gsr because their Transmission is much stronger and does not get heated as much, and most of the work is done by the clutch. And that people who own mr switch their tranny to gsr tranny!!!
What you guys think on this, mr or gsr?
I'm looking to get 500-600awhp

My mod list:
•e-85 ( have e-85 available 1 mile away from my house)
•Ets turbo kit or ams turbo kit
Wit hks 7460r gtii turbo
•Klieford 272's cams
All the supporting mods for the ugrade. Add some.

Im more of an engine mod guy than the body.

Please guide me and if its possible to this with stock turbo?

I did alot of research and this is all I found thats why I decided to ask for your guy's opinion and a bit guidance!!! Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You can easily get 400whp on a stock IX turbo on E85 with supporting mods (TBE, Intake, Charge pipes) You can easily put an IX turbo on a VIII.

The IX has variable cam timing (VTEC yo )

5 speed is stronger than 6 speed

Also look into GSC S2 cams. Arguably the best "272" cam out there right now

If you do choose to with a MR, its not difficult to change the tranny to 5 speed at all.

Good luck with you decision!
