Horrible gas mileage problem?

Hello,

Just recently bought a evo ix se and noticed that I'm only getting like 100-160 miles per tank. Depending on how much I boost? I was curious and searched online, and there's another thread and most people had at least 200+ if not around 300 miles per tAnk. I run 94 octane from chevron and haven been driving under 3000rpm lately but still getting around 160miles a tank. I think I need s re-tune? The previous owner said it was tuned but I do not believe it was done properly. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? If I need a re-tune what's the best / cheapest way? I have a cob access port that came with the car but don't know how to use it. I live in Vancouver,bc.

Modlist.

Bbk turbo
Hks cams

Yeah the guy that previously had my car said it was tuned but it was messed up. I'd invest in another tune. I did and it saved my motor.

I'm getting about 18-19 in town on 92 but I found out I have had a cracked manifold for awhile.(I parked the car) I was getting better mileage.

Would the cams do that much damage To my mpgs? Driving under 3000 for like 95% of the tank and I only get 160miles a tank

I'm slowly getting lousy miles per gallon. I know I need to get my car retuned the first shop I had it done at has been "questionable" at best. Probably get max of 18 miles a gallon right now. oh well on a list of things for me to do.
Especially since every gas station is price gouging from block to block.

Ironically when I attempted to drive mine under 3k rpms I tended to get worse mpg than if I drove it and had fun with it. I found the best results if you keep it under 10lbs of boost(~22mpg).
But anyway, you are probably running pretty rich so I would look into a re-tune. Better safe than sorry.

A TBE would be a good thing to have on the car before the tune. a few other things like injectors, fuel pump and boost controller would be a good idea too.

If you are in the Vancouver, Wa area I would strongly advise you to call up Aaron at English Racing. If you are in Vancouver, Canada.. I still tell you the same thing but it would be a hell of a drive

I was having trouble with my stock piping blowing off at any given psi, so I drove around avoid boost at all possible and I was getting worse gas mileage like seventh_rx said. I don't have any technical information regarding that. I just think our cars were tuned and designed to be in boost, so that's how they run most efficiently. The engine probably has to try harder to accelerate without the turbo. Again thats just my uneducated speculation.

i think i have 740 injectors.. and i have a walboro255 i bought for a 240sx along time ago unopened. are they universal? can i put it in my evo? and a boost controller. i will look into. but i was thinking about going down to english racing. i havent heard of any in vancouver bc, or near.

where abouts do you drive around? 4000? 3500? 5000? i've been driving like 3000 or under haha

Just cruising around town I drive 3k or lower. I try to not being a nuisance to the neighborhood. Not sure if thats the optimal rpm or not.

Go to English Racing. That shop is top notch and specialize in Evo's/DSM plus Aaron is a awesome guy in general.

Not sure about the fuel pump. Maybe try to sell it on a Nissan forum and buy the right one.

Boost controller will open your options quiet a bit. Should be able to pick up a decent one for fairly cheap.

i was doing 21 mph in my neighborhood (VSS from AEM) and a guy walking his dog stopped me yelling that i was "flying" down the street, he said he heard my tires spinning.. i tried to explain that i was doing 21 in a 25 and he probably heard the blow off valve, but he was a d***... just moved into this neighborhood also so i guess im starting things off right

regardless, the loud car itself is a nuisance, if i was driving normal or not.

Any suggestions for tbe ? I was gonna pick up a tomei expreme ti. But kind pricey. Anyone know any good deep low toned exhausts ? I like blue tip ! Hahah
