in the middle on purchasing a evo 8 but need help

hello all! my names isaac and im currently looking at a 2004 evo 8 ssl. the car is a very nice car. it has been well taken care of and was previously owned by a doctor. it isnt stock which sucks but its not highly modded which = a +. the car has a drop in air filter, cat back exhaust, turbo timer, boost controller, safc ii, boost gauge, air/fuel wideband, and some other gauge cant remember.

my problem im having is that im unable to test drive the car to see how it runs and stuff due to another interested buyer that thought he was some kind of tuner and started messing with the safc ii. so now i guess the car is idling rough. the dealer has been stating that theyre going to get a tech in to look at it. that has been stated for over a week now... so i really dont know whats going on.

i honestly dont trust who they hire to fix it. i really rather just deal with it myself seeing that im a car enthusiasts. i been reading up on the safc ii and trying to determine what i can do so that im able to test drive this car and see if its the one for me or move on.

so my question for you guys is.... if i initialize all data will that return the car to stock settings so that the car is running normal? if i get this car i plan on getting rid of the safc ii because i prefer to use my lap top and tactrix cable. or will just setting the settings to zero work or what else can i do?

thanks in advance.

safc is garbage.. its a shame someone would install one. if you do buy it, take all that crap out and have it reflashed.

If it has a WB and you know what you are doing then tune on the test drive and see how it goes. That is assuming the salesman trusts you and will allow it.

I'm sure it was installed way back before there was really any other choice.

well if the dealer let the other guy screw it up, why wouldn't he let you fix it? or better yet, just do it until he tells you to stop. what's the worst he can do? not let you buy the car?
