Picking up my 2005 EVO MR on Tuesday...

Posted on these forums a while back, I've been looking for an EVO/STI for a few months now... looks like I finally found the right one

Just put a deposit on it... CANNOT get this car off of my mind. Never been so excited for anything in my life... I can already tell I'm going to baby this car and most likely keep it forever... I had an 08 350Z for 2 years and after driving this car I could already tell it's gonna be an exciting next few years...

Anyway... the cars looked like it had an HKS intake on it, jdm rear tail lights, and maybe an aftermarket exhaust I couldn't really tell... they said they were going to remove the intake so that it could pass smog? But they were going put the stock intake on and give me the HKS one...

Would you guys recommend putting the HKS intake back on? I've read a few faqs and know that on evos and stis intakes are pretty useless unless the cars been tuned for them... I'm gonna be spending the next few days glued to these forums hahaha...

Any advice/comments/questions are welcome

You'll probably need to put the intake back on if your car is tuned for it.

You should have worked something out so you could have it for the GReddy Fest tomorrow. Suppose to be over 200 Evos there...

Congrats! I know how hard it is to wait... bought a wrecked 06 MR that's finally at the shop being repaired.. The wait is driving me nucking futs! Put the intake back on if it's tuned for it. If it's not tuned for it, put the intake back on and get it tuned.

Yeah just found out I have to wait until friday... going crazy on these forums until then.

Been watching the Intro to EcuFlash videos and reading up on tuning... I've also read most of the stickies and "modding for dummies" threads but still have some questions...
How can I know if the car has already been tuned for the intake/exhaust that are on it? Should I ask the dealer/contact the previous owner?

Also, I'll post pics of everything once I have the car.

Dealer doesn't know, if You can speak to the original owner thats the best, or since you dont know what tune is on the car, i recommend to baby her till you can get her to a Tuner Shop. Make an appointment!!!
It should be mandatory whenever A used EVO is purchased.

You should make an appointment at FFtec in Union City and take the car strait there after buying it.

also another thing I would do is change all the fluids to be safe (30k service)

i would change all of the fluids in the car if the dealership has not. I would put the HKS intake back on it because it is probably tuned with it.

like everyone else said get a tune n baby it until then
