Well ill give you my opinion. I was in the same boat. I looked at both, test drove a ton of cars and in the end went with the evo. Why? Honestly it was the price. For the same year , mileage, mods, etc. The STI was always a couple grand more. Honestly im glad I went with the evo, but coming from a wrx previously as well I do miss subies. (Im sure you will as well) Some things to think about with the evo is they can tend to get a bit obserd with the small things that break / go wrong, but im sure you will see that with any car in the 400hp range. Ideally I would have an STI to daily and an evo for the track. Im sure either way youll be happy.

One final thought dont do what I did, please please purchase a STOCK car with very low miles. You dont want to inherit some othe d*ck heads problems or stupidity.

BTW: where you at in ohio?

NE ohio, interior and DCCD is nice in the sti, but im also a sucker for moonroofs like in the EVO, its the little frikin things that are making me sooo back and forth, lol this is crazy how appealing both of them are. I want the STI for the interior and i want the EVO for the motor and moonroof lol. This is a very very tough decision. How is the EVO in the snow?

Im from columbus and spent my first two years of school at heidelberg in tiffin. Honestly though If you want a dd sti may be the best option. If you want a race car that looks the part id go evo.

hows the radio, hows it in the snow, any problems with the A/C or heater, any little problems i would love to know about, bc i kinda wanna try an evo bc i absolutely LOVE the looks and the power potential and it'll be something different for me. I found an 05 with 31,000 miles for 19K and it looks terrfic, pretty much stock too.

How much power can i make before the 05's 5 speed needs upgraded? any sites or forums that focus on tuning evos with opensource? power before engine upgrades? stock turbo potential? Thanks in advance.

Before you make an important decision based on what a forum tells you, go out and drive each one. I've owned both, and the second I first drove my evo, I knew I'd never regret selling my STI. but that's just me.

I decided to get the EVO, unless i find an STI with a ludicrously low price. Thanks for the help guys, looking forward to trying something new and tuning the legendary 4g63.

The EVO tromps the STi if you are buying it for purely a performance/fun car.

If you are looking for a DD the STi may suit you better. Even though the interior/trunk space is smaller than the EVO's.

The sound is subjective, but I do like the Subarus tone, althouth I LOL @ the fact that it rumbles because of the poor engine layout (uneven exhaust pulses).

Put an uneven exhaust manifold on the EVO, and it'd sound about the same.

The best thing to do is to drive both and see which one you like better. That's what I did.

STi's are a better daily driver IF you leave it the hell alone. It's just more comfortable, the interior is nicer and it seemed to kill my kidneys slower. Any modded car is going to slowly bleed you dry of money and time.

If you want a DD that's going to be slightly more reliable when modded, go with the Evo, but expect to have both cars down and out every once in a while. That's just the way it is.

As for me, there's no way in hell I'd DD my modded Evo.
