Running in your Evo x GSR

Hi guys, apologies if this has been posted before!

I was just wondering how you guys ran in your new evo's?

I just picked up a new X an have been short shifting no more than 5000rpm. However, once in 5th i have opened her up a few times. I was told that its red lining that may cause problems and not so much driving at higher speeds. What do you guys think?

Also I have not yet used cruise control and am trying to vary speeds between 50mph 70mph on highway drives. Picked her up on thursday afternoon and done 700km so far, doing what i wrote above.

Any tips from anybody or should i just continue on as i am.

Thanks in advance guys

oh okay, well all i can say is oops! hope no damage has been done! But ive read so many different opinions on this that I wanted general feedback on how people have chosen to run in and if they regret the way they done it or would do it differently give then chance to do it again.

Thanks for your reply though, i need to pick up my manual from the dealer as it wasnt in the car when i picked it up!

Being not familiar with cars, I've always been surprised by the fact that a car can run thousands of miles without breaking down. I mean, what a fantastic machine! If I run that far, I will certainly be exhausted and end up in hospital.

How do you guys get that confident with cars and redlining it like taking a joyride..

When you see some of the crazy modifications that people do to their evo's like 800hp ++ and what they put their cars through then you start to know what an Evo is really capable of.

My car is still new not even 2 weeks old, so i know that how im driving it, is nowhere near the limits of what it is capable of. Its all about getting to know your car and learning to take it to the limit without loosing it. Obviously that should be done in a private setting away from other road users in a safe place, where if you do loose it, your not going to go flying into a wall!

My place of choice is a very large empty carpark where i can throw it around an imaginery bend an see how the car reacts. As i say its all about learning in a safe setting

Think that kinda answers your question.
