Hey guys, i am looking into getting an exhaust and am consedering going catless. My car is not tuned, i understant that they run rich. Will i shoot flames out of the exhaust? I looks cool, but i dont want more attention from cops since i am alreary running 20% tint.

umm yes it most likely will when you let off on the gas and shove in the clutch after taking it to 7k rpms.. cause our cars run super rich right off the lot.

 

Not to mention the smoke screen you're going to shoot out whenever you got WOT (unless you run E85).

 

Chances are, if you're pushing it hard enough to spit flames you'll have the cops attention anyway.

Your not going to shoot flames from your exhaust if your driving casually. On the other hand, if driven spiritedly, you might hear a back fire followed by small flames and scare the **** outta people behind you.
Also, If you do decide to run cat-less, beware of the smell your car is going to emit, unless you get a HFC (which will still cause smell at WOT, but not as much). That will certainly cause more attention than your tint if a cop is behind you.

 

If the only mod you are doing is an exhaust, you don’t need a straight pipe. Get a high flow cat instead. The power gains will be about the same. The high flow cat will give you less stink and less shooting flames.

Even with a high flow cat, my car shoots flames more than I would like it to. The flames happen the most when I’m driving in stop and go city traffic. I also get an occasional pop while shifting after WOT on the freeway. I wish my car didn’t shoot flames, but I guess it's just part of driving an evo.

I am going for it anyway. Suggestions on a system for less then $650? I have heard and seen so many videos that I am confused again. CTN is what I am leaning towards at this point!

 

should just save a little more and get something with some quality...
