Opinion on this EVO? Noob ):

What do you guys think about this EVO? Does it look clean to you guys?
http://tinyurl.com/3hzozjj

I am also wondering how does a stock 2003 evo feel?
Does it compare up to the 2005 wrx sti?
Will I feel the rush or the power of it with the 270~ hp and torque?
Which is around 230whp?
sorry I am new to the EVO

I am deciding between STI or This EVO

Thank you!!

That is a CLEAN 03 man! I would try to get them to come down on that price a little though. Also ask them if the first timing belt service was done at 60k miles since it's sitting at 65k.

I'm not sure what a stock 03 EVO feels like since my first one was a stock 06 IX. But I can assure you that you will not be disappointed with the performance. A few bolt ons and maybe change out to the 05 turbo or IX turbo and your set to stomp most bolt on STi's

stock to stock sti might nudge you out but say $1000 in mods on both and evo would walk the sti

Thats a very clean car. Just check it out thoroughly as possible. If its a private seller, then get a feel of what hes like. If you notice alot of little/stupid things wrong with the car, odds are theres more problems within. If its a dealer push for extended warranty and get that damn carfax. If it all checks out, then id go for it. Its a pretty good price for that low of mileage evo. Ask a million questions, then a million more. Good luck

I have owned both the 05 STi, and an 03 Evo. I will say that if you plan to leave the car stock, get the STi... Much more fun at stock power levels than a Evo at stock power levels. Like mentioned above, for around 1-2K you can make a good amount of power and walk most STi's. I owned the STi for 2 months, it was fun while it lasted. Can't beat the Subaru growl and the obnoxious hood scoop peering at you while in the driver's seat though. Once I switched to the "Dark Side" it's been no looking back and I have since owned 5 Evo's to date and will not even consider a subaru over an Evo....

Just to recap,

Subaru is a great car for leaving stock. Stage 2 is pretty fun with a STi but after that, it's loads of money to get where you can get for about 2K or less with an Evo.

Evo handling is much better too IMO...

Hope that helps.

Wow quick replys!
Thanks guys.

Well... I really want an STI. However, the dealer route is ALOT easier for me and my family and this EVO is from a dealer
I just want to know will it still be a worthwhile car for stock?
Is the performance still worthy as stock? Does the stock sound powerful at all? or is just a weak sounding exhaust.
I am not looking for like a top performance car to tune into. I just want a daily driver that I can also have some fun with.
And keep some car enthusiasts on the road turning their heads

Also for the dealer.
Do you think just checking the car fax and asking if the oil changes been up to date and timing belt was changed will be enough to know? or do dealers have ways to hide other details ;o

Thank you!

Looks clean.

I like the evos and am not really a fan on the subies, stock the evo is more than enough fun for a daily you Wont be dissapointed And as mentioned already with a few $$$ they produce great results.

Honestly that evo 8s overpriced generally evo 8's go for 13 to 14 private owned. You need to get a loan and buy the car from an owner not the dealership that is the biggest mistake together.

bump for update
I have just talked to the dealership guy about the evo.
He said it is not stock, it has turbo timer, boost control, and turbo catback exhaust.
I asked if the first owner got it tuned and he said something in he didnt or doesnt think so.
Is this okay for these mods not to get it tuned yet?
Also he stated it had an accident, but only affect the bumper and it had been fixed.
How do i confirm that it was only the bumper?
Thank you!
