Evo 8 or 9?

Looking to get one asap. Like the look of 9, but found a great deal on 8. I don't intend to mod the car.

I've got a sportbike to ride as well(BMW S1000RR) and just don't have the time to do mods and still have time to enjoy both vehicles. BTW, I'm in Minnesota, so riding season is relative short 5~6months at best.

If you don't intend to mod the car, then maybe go with a clean IX if you find one for a good price. If not, then the VIII isn't bad. What year VIII is it?

My girlfriend is also from Minnesota and I flew there with her this past October. I met up with a guy there from another forum I post on who has a black Evo VIII, and it's treated him pretty well over there during the winter seasons as his DD, but he's done a few light mods.

This is the way I see it. I had a 1995 TSI AWD and when I got my 2003 Evo VIII I felt it was a DSM with everything wrong with it fixed (Smaller turbo upgraded to a larger one, better cams, FMIC, proper gearing, better wheels, and so on) When I got my IX MR I felt it was a 2003 Evo VIII with everything wrong with it fixed. Better wheels, better paint, better suspension, better interior, better turbo, better engine ( MIVEC and closer tolerances for the engine) and better cams.

Get the IX, it is the best version of the Evo we ever got, I promise.

IX, many small improvements = an overall better car. Or, just get a X since you can find used '08 GSR's for a little more than a clean IX.

well im going to say 8 bc everyone else has said 9 haha.

but realistically, the 9 is very similar to the 8, but like everyone has said, with small upgrades that add up to a better overall car. personally i like the 8 bumper better (esp nose chop).

If you were going to mod, i would say go 8. but for a stock DD, the 9 is where its at. the pull a premium tho, so if you got a good price on an 8, i promise you wont be disappointed. gl with the search either way!

Now that you mentioned ^^^, I've started to look for X. Hoping to work out a deal for X this weekend.

Why are you guys so against modding a IX? I have mine tastefully modded with a Red and simple bolt-ons and Swift Spec Rs springs and Volks and the thing makes 450WHP on 93 and I drive it to work every day.

I don't think anyone is against modding the IX, they're just saying since the OP wants to keep the car stock it would be a better choice over the VIII since it comes from the factory with MIVEC, a larger turbo, etc.

Looks like the OP has decided on a X though...fine choice if I do say so myself

An X for a stock Daily driver would indeed be a better car then a IX or an VIII until of course he gets it on the highway and cruises in 5th at 4000
