New Evo X

I have been lurking around the forum and reading up on different topics, I noticed that the major suppliers of parts are ETS, AMS, AP, and ARC. Can any one chime in and tell me what company to go with for intercooler, intake, boost controller, and/or catback. I am looking to get an idea as to the best money to performance ratio....

Thanks in advance for your help.

I don’t think it is possible to come up with a across the board answer to this question. It all depends on what the overall goals for your car are.

How much HP do you want to be making.
How much TQ do you want to be making.
Are you going to be using your car as a daily driver only or are you going to be going to the track.
Do you want to improve only straight line speed or do you want to improve handling or both.

Also find some other EVO drivers in your area and see what they have done with their car.

Overall, I am looking to add some power to the car say around 400 awhp and similar TQ gains, but I also what to add quality parts. Here is what I am thinking: first mod it to add the Grimsspeed EBC unit and get a tune and use that for a while then add the ETS O2 dump/downpipe & intake (AMS/AEM/ETS). So basically, I do not want to add everything at once so that I will be able to enjoy which mod. I will also be adding coilovers and possible sways for handling. I plan on doing some drag but not much autox unless of course I get into it.

Let me here your thoughts.....

my advice (from a new-ish owner - had the car for about 4 months now), take your time and do it right the first time so you don't have to replace parts down the road. do your research on here and the other boards in the meantime and you'll be good to go.

as far as your plans go, they'll probably change 10x or more along the way. make a list and knock out your priorities first, then add the little stuff later learn to drive with what you've got and when you feel like you've pushed your setup to its limits, then add a mod.

ARC is the cheapest! Just kidding. ETS is my favorite. They are very responsive service wise and the dollar/perf ratio is definitely favorable. I had 2 issue with some parts they sent and they corrected it very quickly. Just installed my testpipe today and it is nicely engineered.

Oh yeah the other fun thing about the intake is if you are sort of in a trafficky area put it in a high gear so its borderline boggy, hit the throttle to get around 10-12 psi and dump the throttle. With an intake the stock BOV is very audible if you do that and you can be a complete ricer. Impress your friends PSSSSH

You already have one of the best handling/cornering cars on Earth.
