Talking Hi guys, new member =)

Heyy hows it going, I'm Samantha.. I just bought a 2003 lancer es, I just had to get new break, oil change, tie rod, and motor mounts due to the negligence of the old owner. Wanna hear a fun story? So I had $5,500 cash to spend on a car, I wanted to get a scion tc at first but my dad told me I could get a really good deal from a private party. Seeing that I'm only 20 this money was kinda burning in my pocket so to say. So I looked around a some cars that I liked, such as the STI or the EVO but since I didnt want to be paying out the you know what for gas, parts, tickets I'll get, insurance... So I looked at the base models of the car and found that the lancer was a good deal, get great gas and is pretty affordable to fix. So I found the 2003 lancer es that I have now. I paid $5500 not knowing thats the car was missing the intake, its jus the housing & filter. Rear motor mount, the tie rod was shot, NO PASSENGER AIR BAG. Not to mention the tweaker sound system that cuts out half the channels with I take a corner too hard... But I'm really lucky that I have a lot of friend who are willing to help me out with it. So what I'm wondering is, what are some low cost parts that I can install to up my power a little bit, and possibly a shift kit, its an auto, but I tend to use it as a stick =P Thanks!!

Face with the name =)

&&& my car =)

Hello & welcome Samantha! You've found the right place to find info, share your car questions/problems, & whatever else it is you want to discuss. Congrats on your purchase too! From the problems you've discovered with your car, I hope the previous owner was up-front about them?? If not,

If you look in the Lancer section, you can find lots of info on mods that won't cost you too much $$$, but will make your Lancer more fun to drive.

My advice though, would be to save your money instead of modding the Lancer, wait a year or two, sell the Lancer & buy an Evo! Trust me, the waiting & driving a stock Lancer will be so worth it! If you don't believe me, go test drive an Evo!! They're also getting to be much more affordable.. Plus, after you turn 21 insurance takes a pretty big drop! Keep an eye out - occasionaly, someone here on the forum offers their Evo for a real steal! Another benefit of buying a car off this forum is you're more likely to know the history of a car, and there might be other members who would be able to vouch for the seller/car..
