Best way to purchase through forum

Didn't know where else to ask this, but what do you think would be the safest way to buy something from the market place from a forum member here?

I was thinking through Paypal?

Thanks

Paypal is and always will be the best and only way. Until some other company tries to do what they do. Cash in local areas would also be good - but for cross country type purchases Paypal is the way to go.

Like craigslist says "DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON - follow this one rule and avoid 99% of scam attempts."

If your serious about the car go look at it, if that involves an airline ticket, well then it involves an airline ticket. I for one would NEVER consider purchasing something as expensive (and problem prone) as a evo sight unseen. I had to fly from Alaska to Seattle to purchase mine, I put down a deposit with the condition that as long as it was as advertised I would buy it, I went down looked at it, it looked great, so I bought. But if you do it all from a distance your just asking for problems IMO.

I'm not saying everyone here is trying to rip you off, but if you don't do it in person your certainly leaving yourself open to it. Even if its just that dent on the fender that wasn't mentioned or that grinding 5th gear, its better to see and drive the car first so you know what your getting.

As far as payment is concerned it doesn't really matter what you do if you do it in person because you'll be paying and getting the title at the same time. If your going to do it from a distance I would recommend getting a loan for it (even if you have the cash) just so your bank is doing the dealing....they will not let themselves get screwed over. Then once everything is legit you can just pay the loan off. There is no origination fee etc. with auto loans so it won't cost you a penny more to go this route.

Don't forget that buyers using PayPal should expect to pay the 3% for fees.
