Names Brad, owned a 1995 integra, 2006 GSXR 750, 2007 GTI and now am looking into an EVO. I have always wanted one and am tired of the Fail wheel drive

1) What do you guys spend a year to maintain it?
- I have heard they are pricey to maintain

2) Any year you guys recommend over another? Reason?

I would look at the second one. Just for the fact I don't like tein springs.

You might be able to get the guy down a little more since he is moving.


Also, these cars are expensive if you can't do the work yourself.

 

What dont you like about tein springs?

And can you be a little more descriptive in expensive? Any figures?

Maintenance isn't bad if you're doing it yourself. Usually oil changes every yr is typical. The thing is every 60k you need to change your timing belt and if you need to pay for that it might be a little pricey (500ish). If you need to do the clutch it's going to cost 600ish just for labor then pick out your clutch. Really not much different than any other car.

 

So its general maintanence is no different than any other car? Thats what I was thinking but I have also seen/heard people talking about something major needing done every 5000 miles.... What would you recommend out of those 2 listed above? Or if there is another one in the Denver CO area

 

Maintenance really isn't bad at all. These cars are incredibly reliable with minimal maintenance. There are a few guys running around here with 200,000 miles or more with no major issues.

Oil every 5k is really the only thing that needs to be done more than once every few years. In fact, my oil analysis at 5k said I would be golden going even 7.5k between changes. Brake pads, clutch, etc. are wear items that will need to be replaced depending purely on how hard you drive the car. Drivetrain fluids (trans, transfer case, rear diff) should be flushed every 30k or so but they really aren't hard to do on your own. Not too pricey to have someone else do if you don't want to. And as has been said already, 60k means a new timing belt and water pump. That's about it.

They're really not very expensive cars to drive daily (apart from gas). Just a myth, I think.

 

Also, out of the two you posted, the white one seems more likely to have been driven very hard. MR with a 5-speed, built transfer case, built rear diff = heavy use most likely. Keep that in mind. The closer to stock, the better as far as you're concerned. Oh, and the 5-speed is better if you're looking to race it a lot or make a lot of power.

 

I would trust the White one more. Just for the fact that it has been tuned on e85 and that it has a built transmission. Seems as though the owner knew what he was doing when modding the car to take a beating. Driving hard does not necessarily mean that the car was abused as long is it was maintained correctly.

 

Any opinions on the blue one? Said he has a STAGE 2 TRANSMISSION... looked but couldnt find any info
