Looking to buy an X, in a somewhat unique buying situation

Hi, my names Andrew and I've been a fan of the Evo X since its release and now I am close to being an owner! Also a big fan of these forums, lots of useful information from a lot of helpful people!

I will be buying an Evo X sometime in the next few months but I am hoping I can get some help from the EvolutionM community concerning the buying process.

My situation is a bit odd. I am active duty military stationed in Germany and I am looking to buy the Evo in the states (from somewhere on the west coast) and then ship it back to Germany. Because of this I have a few questions. Since I do not have a stateside address I was thinking about just going to a state like Oregon and buying there to avoid a sales tax to a state I do not live in. However I will need a car registration to prove that I am the owner of the car when I bring it to the port in Seattle for shipment to Germany. Having never bought a car from a dealership before I am wondering if the dealers do something like a temporary registration so I can avoid fully registering it? Is there some better way to go about this maybe? Basically just looking to save $2500 or so if I can.

As for price on the Evo itself I have been talking with a few dealerships through email and they have quoted me invoice + destination as a thank you for being active duty military. Good deal or have people been getting lower prices?

What I am looking for is a new 2011 (perhaps 2012 we'll see what changes) GSR with no options color isnt too huge but I am leaning towards WW atm (and then change my mind every time I look in the show and shine forum).

Thanks for any help you guys can provide, appreciate it.

Perhaps an obvious answer... but why not purchase in Germany?

I want a US spec Evo, I'd rather not have to buy new headlights, glass etc just to bring it back home.

I had a new car shipped to germany from the states when I was stationed there. I had to refinance it through another bank though because mitsubishi financing wouldn't release it to leave the country until I had paid at least 50% of my note. My local credit union had no problem letting it go. I bought the car in mississippi and it left from the port of new orleans.

ur best bet is to finance thru navy federal or armed forces bank or usaa. when buying the car they will use ur drivers license so most likely thatll be the state u get the registration in.
