I'm currently an STi owner, but just decided to buy an Evo X for my daily driver.

i've been in the subaru community since 04, but always liked the evo's.

i'm the used car manager at a chevy dealer, so i found an 08 evo x gsr with 14k miles on it for a great price on auction. little did we know, it came to us with bad 3rd and 4th gear sychros. our local mistu dealer would not warranty it, since they found an aftermarket clutch in there $3800 later, i have a fully rebuilt stock transmission.
the car came with a greddy spectrum elite catback, aem afr gauge, injen intake and injen piping. it also has 18x8 tenzo wheels on it...ew.







love the way the car feels inside. my reason for dding this is because i recently found out i have misaligned hips and have been daily driving lifted diesel trucks (silverado's). i couldn't take the bumps anymore and getting in and out made my hips/lower back hurt more. i'm currently seeing a chiropractor to get it all straightened out.

coming from a subaru, i know a little about these cars, but i don't know what the best bang for buck mods are.
so far i'm thinking these...
downpipe
short shifter
mudflaps
springs
sways
debadge
new wheels later (going to use these for winter)
and a tune by EFI Logics with a cobb accessport

chime in with anything you have to say and what recommendations you have.

 

14k and a replaced clutch already....? I wonder what the previous owner was using the car for.

 

yea not sure unless they just burned the factory one out, dropped an aftermarket one in, and then the synchros went. either way, it runs and drives great.

I recommend just getting a tune with your current mods, you should see roughly 330-340whp range with a good tune... A DP will not see much gains if any on the stock turbo, an 02/DP may see some, but generally more with an aftermarket turbo. Also if you do springs, I recommend installing the Whiteline RCA kit to re-align the suspension geometry. Sways are nice, and make a huge difference aswell.

i'm going to ask efi what they have seen from tuning some. i know pete's wife drives an MR i believe.

what about short shifters? needs one with bushings bad.
