Quick question

I'm not a noob but I do have 2 noob questions
1. What is the point of gold in the engine bay? is it just for looks or does it actually do anything?

2. What is the point of carbon fiber, again, does it do anything as far as weight, or is it moreso for looks as well?

Thanks guys

1. Gold is one of the best reflectors for heat -- it's used to line the engine bay of the McLaren F1.

2. Carbon fiber is lighter, though most people who have it now did it for the looks. It's not really worth it unless you actually needed to replace that part for whatever reason or if you just have the cash to fund your quest for cutting weight from your car.
