Intake Filter question
I 'm just starting to understand engine work. About how many miles do you need to have on your car before you need to change the filter? (more info I have about 7960 miles on the car, with the Injen CAI) Also can I use the K&N recharge kit on the Injen filter if I do need a new one?
According to
, it's 15 or 30 thousand miles between change or recharge (depending on if it's regular or severe usage of the car). Obviously, as with oil changes, you can do it as often or rarely as you want. I'm overly cautious, so I try to do everything ASAP.

i clean the filter whenever it looks dirty, simple as that. if its originally red, then its dark red or black then its time to clean it, or if you wanna spend the cash, buy a new one. thing is, i have the injen sri and the diameter on this filter is bigger than the cheapie ones you can buy at autozone, so i have to clean mine.
I cleaned my AEM at around 18k. It did not really need it though but it had only been on for about 8k miles at the time. The OEM filter was still really clean when I took it out at 10k miles.
I would say based on how dusty or dry your area clean it every 20k
