You do realize that it isn't really an aftermarket modification, right?

The Only DOHC engines that exist in lancers are over seas. do a little research. If you really want one you can import it. Just remember that parts will be expensive since the engines are not here in abundance.

Why is this just hitting you? Your car is 2 years old. I'm guessing you did some research before buying it. Why would you buy a car that had features you didn't want? I'm quite happy with my little SOHC.

After rereading his post, I agree with Evodreamer - I'm not entirely sure he knows what DOHC is.

He says "if there are any out there" like it's a part, rather than an entirely new engine system. But I could be wrong. I just have the feeling he say the sticker on a Civic and got jealous... but I'm not trying to hate. It's just a guess.

yeah, DOHC won't improve performance that much...lol sheesh. our SOHC is fine to me. Once i put money into it, i'll like it more than my old v6 Grand AM. Only 4 banger i lost to with that car was a TSi AWD..to make matters worse, i was alone and there were 5 people in his car, lmao, i had him til about 55.

"i see them for honda why not lancers" lol, that just makes me laugh. why didn't u buy a honda than?

Do DOHC's have any performance aspects over us? I would think the car's more efficient with a SOHC, am I wrong?

DOHC provides no direct performance gain. The advantage to DOHC is that it is easier to adjust valve timing, and the cams are easier to make.

Just think about the fact that you could grind two cams with only 8 lobes instead of having to try and grind one cam with 16 lobes.

With DOHC you have the ability to adjust each cam more specifically with the use of cam gears etc. But overall there is no actual performance difference between them. Just a tuneability issue.

And since there is more or less no one on this forum who has gotten that deep and specific and technical there is no reason for anyone to need or want DOHC on our lancer engines.

It used to be that there weren't many SOHC that were 16V... so that is probably where the idea of "performance" came in as a 16V DOHC is a little easier to make. But anyway... there is no point to having DOHC at this point. No one has gotten anywhere near being limited by the cam configuration.
