Purchasing an Evo IX

Im looking at purchasing an Evo IX But im so confused by models and performace figures I dont know what im looking at! First thing I wanted to know is how many different models got released in Australia and what are they, because they all seem to be the same but I thought there were several models. Also some people claim they do 4.9 to the 100kph out of the factory but others say they do 5.7 ....... what the!!! Also of the ones ive looked at are between $30,000 and $40,000. But I dont understand the 10K price difference when they seem to be the same car! I undertand mods and all that but thats a fair varience.

Any help would be much appriciated

Cheers

I don't know much about the different versions offered in Australia but what I can tell you is this.....simply buy the cleanest and most well taken care of car you can find.....low mileage is a plus but a high mileage car that's been taken care of is much better off than a low mileage car that hasn't. Other than that make sure its a 5spd. The RS and SE versions of the IX came with the aluminum roof in the US. Unless you are trying to make a show or collectors car, all of the versions are going to be very similar and except for the roof and transmission any parts that may have varied between them (headlights, suspension, rims, etc) are fairly easy to acquire and replace, such that it would not be worth purchasing a car in poor(er) shape just to get those features.

Find something well taken care of and if possible a color you like...... good luck

I purchased a low mileage well taken care of MR,...and recently spent thousands on a 5spd swap, I'm still very happy with my purchase and knew when buying the car that I would most likely be swapping the tranny in the future.
