Hey Evolution M, My name is Jeff and I currently have a 99 Mustang Cobra with many suspension and brake mods. The car is used for HPDE and was hoping to do some time trails. However I have been thinking about selling the Cobra and buying an Evo X MR. I have some questions about modifications and such, so I came here.
Some of the questions I have are: What are the widest tires I can stuff under the fenders with-out modifications? How dependable is an Evo X with 440 wheel HP? When you swap turbos and cam shafts how crappy does the fuel milage get?

 

Okay, before anyone flames you, the search is your friend on this site. But to answer a few of your questions, Don't worry about HP, worry about TQ, 400 AWTQ is used as the common "safe" limit. As for rims, I've seen 18x10, some try 18x10.5, depends on the offset, but this is an Evo, not a RWD cobra, so you're already better off and don't need wide *** tires AS much. And lastely, swapping turbos and cams are not what make the gass milage worse. Pushing more air through with the turbo is what makes gass milage worse, I can drive my car for 26 MPG if I stay out of boost, but if I boost everywhere I go, I could probably hit 18 or lower. Most Evos I've seen, including built Evos with 700 AWTQ and AWHP, stay in the 20 MPG range.

Again, I'm not trying to come off as a dick, but use the search, there is a TON of great information on this website that goes into a hell of a lot better detail then what I just did. These topics have been ran over numerous times and it happens everytime a new part comes out. Good luck.

 

Thanks for the heads up. I've been finding tons of information in this forum. I've already decided against the MR and am going to go with a GSR. I've made contact with a forum member selling their GSR and was a bit too late as it had just sold. Looking at a couple others. Evolutionm.net
