Introduction and requesting information

Alright so I introduced myself a while ago when I thought I was going to return to the states and purchase a new car but.... things didnt unfold to well and i didnt get to go back to the US so now im going back soon. But my name is Garrett I currently own an 04 350z and I'm looking to get into a new Evo when i get back. I look forward to using all of your wisdom and forum information to aid me in my project.

Now on to my newb question. Ok so I mostly need some information on purchasing a new car. I currently have about $16k I can put down on the vehicle and I can either trade in or privatly sell my 350z, I got some inquiries about the price for it and will get anywhere from 10k-13k for trade in and private party about 15k. So I'm not sure on what i should do just looking for some advice. Also would it be better to take out a loan or finance for the rest of the cost and what dealerships would you recommend to purchase a vehicle from, I am willing to travel up to NY and down to Florida. Thanks in advance and look forward to meeting everyone and using the forum.

-Garrett

Well the only thing is i was looking to get a new vehicle. This is probably the only time ill be able to almost out right by the car and have it paid off in a year, then i wont have to worry about it as a financial burdon anymore. Plus I enjoy the piece of mind I would have knowing i have a warranty to back it up until i find a mod friendly dealership or stop caring about the warranty.

Garrett, welcome to the forum. As you're in the military, you're likely insured by USAA. AFAIK, they offer a car shopping service, or at least they did when I bought my Evo. USAA negotiates the price and you go to the dealer to pick up the car. I'd suggest buying it from a dealer in your area. Financing, etc depends on the interest rated you're offered and your opportunity costs, meaning, other things you could do with the money and their inherent value to you. Good luck and stay safe.

Thanks FJF, and no i dont use USAA mothers an insurance agent and she gets me a pretty deal on rates. USAA actually quoted me a rediculous price so I kept my distance from them. Point taken on the financing, I just didnt know if there was an easier way going about this. I'll look into their services and see what comes up. Thanks again I'll be sure to let you all know when i go through with my purchase.
