Greetings Evo guys :)
Hi evo guys,
My name is Andrew and Im in the Kansas City Area,
Ive long been part of the Toyota community, and am the proud owner of a 1991 Celica Turbo Alltrac. My motor is currently under construction, with plans of an ethanol powered 550-600whp goal in mind. For those of you who may not know much about this car, it is similar in layout to an evo, except for that it is two doors, and is toyota. Other than that, its all wheel drive with a transverse mounted turbocharged engine.
At any rate, my reasoning for joining your forum is so that I can jump a bit deeper into a larger support base for finding solutions for making my build better. Its very hard when you have to deal with a support base of only a few hundred members nationally.

Anyways, while the 3sgte is a great platform, what really sucks about it is the general lack of mainstream aftermarket support and general power research and development. My motor in particular is a pain because it was never released in the Western Hemisphere. I have a Gen 3 3sgte head bolted to a gen 4 3sgte bottom end, which means there are alot of hassles with ordering parts from japanese exporters.
Most of our testing, prototyping and development is done by enthusiasts and backyard tinkerers who know how to weld really good or are engineers by profession. You guys have companies like cosworth who are dedicated to R&D on high performance investment based products. Our general rule is that we are 5 years behind the Evo, Subaru and Honda guys mostly because we just sort of follow in your wake of successes and fancy new tech.
All this means that I have to spend way more money, for the same amount of horsepower...
I guess the only really awesome thing is that our transmissions are good in stock configuration to over 800awhp...
I figure maybe I can learn what you guys are up to right now in your builds so that I can perhaps apply it to an 18 year old platform...

yeah i had my MR2 back when EVOs and STIs were first coming to this country and no one could figure out how my little toyota was beating them off the line and running with them on the top end. I once called AutoZone and advanced auto parts for parts as a joke to show my friends how hard it was to find parts and no joke the guy was like "is this a prank call?" i blew my US spec trans and the dealership told me "your car isn't in our system, did you say Toyota MR2" i ordered a JDM LSD trans from NOYAN later that day lol. So, i know your pain as far as finding parts goes. My build was dyno'd at around 400HP

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Once the alltrac is up and running ill for sure make it to some of your more local meets.
