yep 60k, so you should probably get that taken are of as soon as you are able.

On topic...

Roughly how much does getting just the timing belt replaced usually cost? My car is at 67,000 and I know the 60k service has not been done. I don't have the money for all of it right now but I'd like to get the timing belt taken care of before anything.

^ Are you talking about changing ONLY the timing belt, or the cost of a 60k service (which obviously includes the timing belt, serpentine belt, etc.)?

I just hit 60,000 as well, and i havent replaced it yet. Crazy thing is that the previous owner had installed HKS Cam Gears and by the looks he used the same timing belt. I would have took the advantage of replacing the Timing Belt. I can tell its the factory because it has the Mitsu eblem and it spells it out. But its fading already so you can only make out what it says. So yea dont feel bad

Only the timing belt for now, as i don't think i will have enough to cover the rest. The whole 60k mile service will probably get done in steps for me.

well, I guess both. If I don't have enough for everything I want to get the timing belt taken care of first. Over the course of the year I wanna get the full thing done, along with every fluid changed out

I always do it before 60k on any of my DSM's, along with the Evo. But 60k is the recommended interval.

Yeah, at least do the serpentine belt and the timing belt at the same time, since the serpentine belt has to come off anyway (from what I'm told), especially if you're having it done by someone else... it'll help save with labor costs.

Make sure you get a new OEM belt tensioner at least with the 3 belts. The other parts like pulleys and water pump are recommended. If you don't want to do them now, wait until the next belt change. You will have to pay the full labor twice if you get the pump and pulleys done later. They are buried behind and driven by the belts.

I think you bought the wrong car... Besides for a bad tune, attempting to save a few dollars in maintenance is the quickest way to get a $5,000 repair bill.

I think I'll be able to get the timing kit and the serpentine belt done, and wait on the water pump till later. One of the mechanics at the GM dealership I work at said he used to be a Mitsubishi mechanic and can probably do it for cheap, so I'll probably be getting most to all of it done. I'll probably just have to wait to do the fluid changes (such as coolant flush, brake fluid, acd fluid, etc) at a later time. I kinda overpaniced on lacking money, forgot that I got paid today with a larger than normal paycheck, plus I'll be selling a CF trunk for my old car soon, so I should be good to go. I guess if I have to borrow a bit from my parents and pay them back later than so be it. Might as well do the full 60k mile service if I can. Thanks for the tips guys.

It's not bad doing it yourself, Just read all you can, and get a shop manual. I paid like $600 for the kit (timing belt, balance shaft belt, water pump, tensioner, idler pulleys, and gasket) about another $50 for the tool, plus a few hours in the garage. I did a cam install in the process so it took me a little longer. Normally a shop charges $1000 plus, but if your not confident in doing it yourself, just wait to pay someone else, and replace it all to save a headache later.

ya I think that's what I'm gonna do. Its one of those things were I technically have the money to do it, but I really shouldn't be spending it as it's supposed to go towards my tuition. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and get it all done now then just work extra hard to earn the money back later. I definitely don't feel confident doing it myself, and one of my coworkers used to be a mitsubishi mechanic so he said he'll give me a good deal on doing it.

You could save some funds by getting gates belts and WP at rockauto.
