Question New to Forums, CEL non-functioning

Hello all,

Ive been searching thisv site very thouroughly for some answers to a problem I am experiencing with my evo 8 mr. I have learned alot but still havent found the answer. Maybe posting directly will help or at least if someone has a link to an answer I would greatly appreciate it.

As of right now my CEL does not come on when the key is turned to the on position, and because of that I have failed emmissions here in VA. I have popped the gauge cluster and found that there was no bulb in place. Removing a functionind adjacent bulb i replaced everything and tied again.

No dice.

Now I am a bit stumped. Is there a way I can test for voltage at the cluster?
My two greatest suspicions are: 1-removed or cut wires (more likely), or 2- ecu not functioning.

If you can help or post what you guys have experienced I would greatly appreciate it!

You will need to check for voltage at that bulb connection with key on,engine off.
If you don't get voltage, find out where the wires are at ECU that power it up and see if it produces voltage. If it does at ECU, someone cut the wires.

So I got to the ecu and removed the second connector, of which pin 36 is supposed to be the ses light. Checked for vdc on the pin coming from the ecu to a spot on the chassis, nothing. So it seems to me to be the ecu. However I also believe this ecu is flashed.

Can ecuflash disable a ses light? I have read that it can disable individual codes but idk about the light itself.

Is there another spot I can check for voltage other then directly at the ECU? I checked the fuses and those are also working fine. If not is there a wiring diagram for the connector going into the cluster itself, I have to remove that connection to remove the bulb anyway. Can I check from there.

Please help I am running out of time to fix this issue.
