New user from Ireland

Hello all, just joined to have a look at whats going on on the other side of the pond with Evo's. Looks like a great site so far, I've been a member of the MLR for years and have had a few Evo's in the past. Currently driving a 2000 Tommi Makinen Edition Evo 6.5 which iv'e owned for almost 4 years now, has stage 1 power of 330bhp which is plenty as its an every day car which is rolling on towards 120,000( reliable but expensive ) miles and never had a rebuild. Also the roads where i live here in Ireland are like rally stages so anymore power than that IMO is just pub-talk! Hopefully i can be of some help to someone in the future and hope that door will swing both ways when i'm stuck.......

Thats it for now..... Michael.

Welcome

I also own a 2000 TME, it’s LHD RS2 version.

I also feel that on “B Roads”, or backroads as we refer to them, there is no need for more than “Reflash” for power. I got weak when the HKS 7460 turbo came out, as it promised same response as stock. The TME response is amazing, so I got that and the cams, supporting mods (ARC IC, RC injectors, Tomei downpipe and JIC catback).

Stock TME suspension is amazing, and I am about to try out the Exe-Tc Circuit and Track which I requested with Irish Tarmac valving/springs.

Irish rally scene is really cool, I watch it on Youtube.

Post some pics of your car...maybe on an Irish rally stage

Nice work!! How did you manage to get a TME into the states? I thought it was impossible due to the lack of safety information and emission control?

I would call them back roads also, B roads is a british thing!! How do you feel about your car since you've made those changes? Does it spool up as quickly or do you find that it has more lag etc?

You made a good choice with the valving/springing on your new suspension, the country back roads here are rough, uneven, twisty, undulating and have changing camber at almost every turn, you need excellent suspension to carry speed over a distance. I'll try to get some pics up of local roads but you've probably gotten a good idea of the conditions from watching Irish tarmac rallies on tv....

I'll try to post some pics of the car for now!

MIchael

The car was brought in by former Mitsubishi WRC driver, and it is entirely acceptable to bring any car as furniture/entity, just not to register on the street.
However I have managed to sort the registration as well.

I am queit familiar with all Irish/British jargon and car-related generalities, having been an avid car-magazine reader since early age, including Autocar, Motor, Evo, Circuit & Track, Performance Car, Car, Top Gear, Cars and Car Conversions, to mention a few.
I am very current.

I am also MLR member.

I speced the Exe-Tc to Graham as for Irish Tarmac: my exact words.
I love the Irish Tarmac series, the Escorts especially! I grew up on them(Escort Mk2 RS2000/1800, Mexico).

I agree, TME stock is awesome and Exe-TC are awesome on yet another level.

I am eyeing a Subaru: 98 Sti Spec-C Type-RA Version 5 Limited 555, 1 of 1000, 33,000km, mint perfect original, only additions Volk TE37 wheels and 3" exhaust- both off the car but come with them.

And, I am buying a 2006 Caterham Superlight tomorrow: it's sort of a cross between R400 and R500, because the homologated engine in USA is a Zetec fully built: 198whp on Dynodynamics. So about 235-240hp at the crank. Right in between R400 and R500, exactly like the original R500 with K motor, but better, as Zetec is stout.

Cheers
Ivica
