Sticker Price goes for 18,995, and of course negotiable, so figure if you got good skill in talking to the sales guy, you can get the car for around Invoice price.

if you're gonna turbo go with the rs - good engine to turbo...but being a lancer lover i'd have to say to go with the oz, it's definitely worth it...i bought mine used from dealer w/ 9500 miles on it for about $10k...not a bad deal at all. and whether you buy new or used there's plenty of money left over after purchase to put a few mods into it. don't get the srt-4...a neon's a neon, no matter how fast it is or what it looks like

yea i think u should look into the Ralliart Lancer or the Mazdaspeed Protege, they both have a good price, and pretty good performance; engine and handling wise. Good luck choosing!

I think your best bet is a lancer it will make about the same maybe more power to the wheels then the 2.5 subaru. The AWD robs too much power. My buddy has a wrx and the engine is rated at 227hp the wheel horse power is closer to 160. Check out import tuners site and do a search. So the lancer will get you better gas mileage also. Thats some food for thought. Also in the long rundo you plan on lots of mods or just a few, Check all the cars and see what is available for each.

WOW! Some of you are amazing...recommending a N/A front wheel drive car over a Turbo AWD DSM or WRX? You guys must be
If you start with a good platform it will always be cheaper, simplier, & more reliable to go faster than doing a massive overhaul of a lesser platform.
The other questions we should be asking kaput16 is whether he's more interested in looks or performance? By the reply's so far I'd think he is more concerned with the looks... but then again, he is considering a Subaru...the ugliest looking cars right behind Volvo for too many years to count
Also we should be asking if he's looking for new or used & what's his price range? For $20,000 I could find quite a few used cars that are all considerably faster than the four he named in the first post.

eclipse gsx/ talon tsi awd

any vw/audi 1.8T
possibly even a high milage supra?
Just to name a few?
