New to the Evo platform and tryin to get my engine build right

Ok so here it is and I appericate any help from the start

I am looking to get a motor built for my first Evo8.
I have been doing my research and reading the forums.
In my quest for a new motor I am looking for something that has plenty of street drive ability and is above all reliable. My ultimate goals are to end up are 600/650 whp. I already decided my trans, transfer, and rear diff are going to shep. I personally don't have the space or tools or knowledge at this time to build
My own motor.

I live just north of the bay area and have talked to a couple local builders in San francisco Sacramento and Reno. With what I have gathered you get what you pay for and that's understandable. Finally after meeting with mike at gst motorsports in hayward he told me pretty much that I should just buy an ams motor. I know you can't go wrong with ams but there is a price with that. There r and d that has gone into the motors is second to none and that justifies the cost. I am looking for second opinions and thoughts. Any experience with ams motors from people in this forum. I am lookin at the 2.3rr motor in particular. I am wondering about any issues people may have had or complications people ran into. I am also curious about usage and what everyone has got out the motor? Life expectancy and how it was treated!

The motor in my car is currently in good running order. If I purchased the ams motor I would keep my current motor to teach myself about the platform an maybe just how to rebuild one! I have seen lots of good posts on here with peoples projects. I was wondering what others thought about different motor options that have proven reliability. It won't exactly bet daily driver but I won't be taking it to te track on the trailer. I don't necessarily need to buy the best motor out there but of something was to happen at this point and I had to rebuild
The motor twice I think the cost of the ams motor would
Offset it self.

Please help and thanks in advance
