Which car to buy?

Hey guys big time newbie here, trying to buy an evo. This site is great and the information is vast. I've done a lot of searching and I can seem to make up my mind so Ill ask you guys. I have found two car for the same price and equal distance from, both like 9 hours away. The one I really like is an 06 SE with 71,000 and has BC coil overs and needs a clutch. Owner say it slips under boost but is fine for everyday driving. The second is an 05 MR with 80,000 miles. The MR is one owner car, bone stock, and has had all maintenance done at the dealer per the carfax, the car fax says this car is worth $300 over normal. My plans for the car is to drive everyday and autocross and maybe track day once a year. I might do a few bolt-ons but for the most part the car will be driven as is for atleast two years. Thanks for reading, I know it was long.

I love that 'fine for everyday driving' line. The clutch is shot.

I agree, it seems every add for a lancer says that, i guess once the clutch goes people sale instead of fix. If i got that one clutch would be swapped with in the first week.

Dont even bother, that usually means there are other problems with it, like previous owner neglect, clearly since he wont fix the clutch. Could be from launching it/abuse. Just get the stock one and be on your way

If you are planning autox, i will say bone stock. Its always good to start from stock and upgrade later.

Get the SE and take a few grand off the asking price so you can get a new clutch.

The 05 MR is totally stock and the only people who have worked on it is the dealership at which it was bought. I'm going to ask about the clutch tomorrow, but I assume that it probably has the factory clutch in it and the person just didn't drive it very hard, but most likely it will need a clutch soon as well. The MR is at a nice dealership in Chicago but came from Virginia, the SE is a private seller.

I bought my gsr IX for $20k with 43k miles and everything was in top shape. They are out there. Be patient and maybe let this one go.
