Purchasing my first evo.
Purchasing my first evo.
Tomorrow i am going to purchase my very first evo (8).I have tested it,runs great, sounds great, completely stock.Which i was very happy about.I do not want a already modded evo.But my question is what are the main things i need to look for before purchasing?it is a 2003 5 speed.105k miles. Was a corporate car since 03.
Things to check are the same as any other car. Check that the brakes are in decent shape, and show signs of normal usage (no gouging in the discs). Check that it idles good with and without the AC on. Try the AC, try all the settings for the climate control, see if it makes heat. Check if all the vaccum lines are properly seated, check oil/coolant/misc fluid levels. Check that the car doesn't pull to one side or the other. Make sure to do at least a few pulls to redline to see if everything is in order.
Then regardless of your results, put your hands in your pockets, kick a tire, shake your head grimly and say "well, she ain't perfect" and hope you get a lower price.

Check teh car over to see if it was previously modded. If it has a stage 2 clutch it probably got parted out. Look over the engine, see if the intake box looks newer/cleaner then the rest.
ummmmmm... 100% not all stock.. did you say all stock?..
not stock wheels, not stock tail lamps... not stock engine bay, manifold, mini battery, tial valve, UICP?
do you happen to know what a stock evo looks like? I'm confused
