Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a 19 year old college student (health sciences/pre-med) and I own a pearl white 2006 Mazdaspeed 6. It's a great car - lots of space and quick for what it is, but it has it's limitations. I'm toying with the idea of getting an evo 8 or 9 to replace it as an evo would be more of a true performance car that I can do more with in the realms of upgrading/tuning. (besides that I've always been a big evo fan)

I'm sure there's a thread on it already, but maybe someone can give me just a quick answer. Is the 5 speed transmission or 6 speed MR transmission stronger when upping the power?

Thanks,

Weston

Welcome! The GSR (manual 5 speed) is way more beefy than the MR..

Yes, the 5-speed is more stout. (Opt for the Evo 9 - MIVEC is your friend)

Thanks! Wow really? I'm a little ways outside of Springfield, so not far away!
