New Member, Here is my new Evo IV!

Hi EvoM,

I just like to introduce myself to the community and show off my Evo IV, and also (hopefully) get a couple questions answered.

Specs:
1996 Evo IV
72,000 kms
Only mods are a boost gauge and turbo timer

Imported by Brian @ B-Pro Auto in Calgary, AB ( I live in Edmonton)

This vehicle is currently in transit from Japan.

Before it gets here I would like to get some information on purchasing mods such as: Exhaust, intake etc. The only stuff I can really find is from Blitz UK and a couple other sites from the UK. I am currently looking at the Blitz Nur Spec R and RX and an intake from them. I am wondering if anyone knows somewhere closer where I can find parts and such. Also looking for Oil filter sizes and if it is the same as say a 1996 dsm talon (4G63) or the same as later evo's such as the 8-9.

Thank you for the help and I look forward to joining the community and more importantly getting my Evo!

I don't like what file wire did here so here is a linkhttp://imgur.com/a/2KEOT to imgur
Thought I would include a pic of my current project

Really excited to find another EVO 4 owner! I just picked mine up from the docks in Vancouver a few weeks ago.I am scrambling to find info on these cars as well,BUT I can help you with the oil filter as I just went through all that just over a week ago.

The evo OEM filter is a MZ690116,But since I would have to order those in I Started cross referencing. Here is a list of oil filters that work.

-Fram extra guard PH9688 (This is the one I used, seems to be working great!)

-Mobile 1 M1-104 (have not tested yet)

-K&N HP-1010 (have not tested yet)

-Wix 57092 (have not tested yet)

As for a cold air intake I am currently looking at an Apexi Model # 507-M003.

Hope this helps!

P.S. any interesting info you could pass on to me would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you very much for this info! Much appreciated. What are the km's on yours? I would like to see some pics!

I don't know to much about the car itself but I do have have this linkhttp://www.lancerregister.com/downlo...de%20v1_00.pdf which I have found VERY helpful.

Other then my friend owning a 1998 Talon I don't know much.

How is yours driving/feel?

Ninja Edit: I can only see the filter for the Apexi, does it come with a pipe?

I have 116,000 kms so far on mine,I imported it from Japan with the help of a friend from Bulldog bros, (Import car company)

Mine drives and handles like a hot damn! it is amazing in the rain, all it takes to drift in the rain is a tap of the gas pedal and a flick of the wrist. On dry pavement it needs a tad more encouragement, but the results are just as fun! last week was doing drifts in the parking lot with 4 people in the car!

I had a mazdaspeed3 before and I had problems keeping traction at the track, I have not taken the Evo to the track yet, but I have been launched it hard a few times and it just grips and goes!
Another nice change from my speed 3 is that it keep gaining power and speed all the way through the rev range until it hits what appears to be a rev limiter? (very useful for when you are trying to hold a drift and are still learning to pay attention to the revs as well as keeping the thing going in the right direction)

the governer seems to be around 190 km/hr ccording to gps. My friend had his on his skyline removed so I am going to try and figure mine out as well.

I am currently in vancouver taking my 4th year for my trade, And I do not readily have access to hi speed internet, So I have not uploaded pics yet, But it is silver like yours. i will be uploading some this weekend when i get home.
Only thing I am wondering about is that I noticed in your pics you have a stabilizer bar in your engine bay,did that come stock? because mine didnt come with one, (things do normally get stolen while in transit) just wondering if it is stock.

That is unfortunate to hear since the strut brace comes stock for most Evo's.

Of course it would have much better traction it is AWD and has AYC(Active Yaw Control)!!!
