MAF question

So my maf went out on me because the filter got contaminated so it stopped reading corectly. I am a dsm guy too so i have a spare 3G maf (501 maf) lying around and i was wondering if there is any difference between the evo 399 and the 3g 501 or if it is just plug and go. I use ecu flash to tune my car though we are working on a tephra map for it as well. But i have searched and the only thing i can find on the 501 maf is how to put it in a lancer. I have an 03 gsr with dp catback and filter with a street tune. If there is a thread with this information somewhere please let me know if not can someone please help. thanks for your time.

Have you tried cleaning out the old MAF sensor? There's something you can get from AutoZone or any other auto part store just ask them what you want it for. I don't know if you can use a carburator cleaner to clean it, but I wouldn't mind using it. There's another cleaner made just for cleaning MAF sensors I just can't make out what its called. If you say its just contaminated this might help.

Test it out. You'd know right away if itll work or not. And if your doing ecu flashing then you can work that into your tune.
