Hey, I just bought my very first Evo. It is a black 2005 Evo 8 /w SSL. I picked it up locally a few days ago from a guy wanting to buy a Hummer H3. The car has 75,000 miles and is mostly stock except for a HKS BOV, turbo timer, and kenwood head unit.

My previous ride was a 2005 WRX STi. Bought it bone stock with 14k miles on it back in 2010. I loved that car, but had to sell it so I could finish school.

So now that I'm done with school, I went and picked up the Evo. I really like it so far, there are definitely a couple differences between the Evo and the STi, some good and some bad, but overall I'm really enjoying the car. The only part I'm not enjoying is this aftermarket BOV. For one, I'm not a huge fan of the sound it makes and secondly it's not installed very well. Yesterday while driving down the highway, going up a hill while hitting boost, the IC piping that has the BOV attached to it separated from the IC piping that connected to the inter cooler. The piping itself does not seem to fit very well, and I'm guessing he bought this piece off of ebay or something.

I'm not really sure what to do about this. I guess the piece that I need is called the upper inter cooler pipe? Should I try and find an OEM pipe and recirc valve, or is there a better aftermarket piece I can get and still retain the HKS and maybe also purchase the recirc kit for it. Any help or ideas on that matter would be greatly appreciated.

Well, that's all I have to say for now. I plan to do a few mods to the car in the future, maybe something like a FP red on e85 + support mods, which I'll make a build thread for. This site so far has been very helpful, and I look forward to hearing what people have to say.

 

Try buying good pipe couplings with good Clamps to hold them together for the mean time until you upgrade your pipes.
