You know what i will comment....Make sure you want to pay for THIS car, not really cheap, repairs/maintenance are not cheap, insurance can be expensive (depends on age/location), and the most important thing is GAS. If you daily drive far, an EVOX will rip a hole in your pocket.....and don't listen to the people that throw the word "cheap" around when asked about the price to mod this car. Modding will put a hole in the other pocket.

Yeah this is a dumb thread but I'll put in my 2 cents.

I got:
No kids
No house(I rent)
No student loans
Live in Florida, perfect driving record(premium coverage is $122/mo for the Evo)
Excellent credit
Make close to 2x the price of the car

Even with all this I would still need to budget. Ok honestly I just don't need to spend $300/mo on alcohol and I'm more than fine...delicious delicious alcohol

Seriously though here's a pro-tip. Go to mint.com sign up and enter your banking info(it's safe and owned by Intuit, relax) it will auto-calculate your monthly budget and categorize stuff for you. It will help you see what you take in/out and you can then customize your budget to suit your needs.

Don't make a decision like this blind. You'll definitely feel better when all the numbers are laid out infront of you.

its what you want to do AFTER you own the evo that puts you in the question of "should or should not" buy an evo.

The base Evo X GSR is not that expensive compared to other cars. A loaded Honda Accord will run you about $28k. You can pick up a new Evo X GSR for only a few grand more. I paid $30,200 for my Evo X GSR new (I paid under invoice because the 2011’s where showing up on the lot and mine was a 2010).

For my example with comparing cars, a Honda Accord is an excellent reliable vehicle, with very low maintenance costs. Great gas mileage, tires last forever, brake pads last for many years. You really only have to get cheap oil changes as typical maintenance in a Honda.

With the Evo, it’s the costs of ownership that is much higher. Everything costs more with the Evo… tires, oil changes, brake pads, premium gas.

Here are some examples for money spend in the past two years with my Evo....

The stock Advan tires. I loved those tires, but they were shot after 14k miles and needed replaced.

My Brimbo brake pads needed replaced after 20k miles. Keep in mind stock Brimbo brake pads are $expensive$. I chose to pay the price and replace them with stock Brimbo brake pads although there are more affordable options for pads. I get my oil changed ever 3k miles with factory recommended Mobil-1 synthetic.

Premium gas is expensive, but gas mileage really isn’t that bad in my car. I get 23-26 mpg highway and 17-18mpg city driving. Now with spirited drive I can get as low as 12 mpg.

If you are not married and drive an evo, there is another expense involved... condoms. You will have to buy huge boxes of condoms to take care of all the ladies. lol I’m joking about the condoms, but chicks do like my car.

If you can afford the maintenance get the Evo. It's the best car I've ever driven.

Set your financial priorities first. If you ever want a house and wife and kids, and a comfortable life one day, work towards that goal, the nice car can wait. I owned my 1g DSM for 9 years before buying an Evo but when I bought my Evo I paid cash. It's all mine. Take care of the more important stuff first, you won't regret it.
