I am new..need some advice

Hi everyone,

I am not a Evo owner yet...but will probably buy one for the first time soon.

My old girlfriend, a trackspec 600hp R32GTR is in europe, and cant import her to the philippines where i live now

So my track and petrol addiction have lead me to the evo side of the fence, i just cant take it without misses..

I want my car to be track-spec, still street-drivable (but thats not a priority), but i do not care about the fancy stuff. I want her on track.

Looking at EVO 6 as they are good value for money here in the philippines.

Now the questions....

1) EVO6 or EVO 6 TME (6.5)? Is there any benefit? Gonna upgrade turbo anyway so i do not care about the turbo side of things.

2) I guess i want to have around 500bhp (400-450atw) for trackuse. Which turbo is recommended for drivability/track? Wanna avoid stroker due to cost. I understand that i need injectors, chip, fuelpump, piping etc..What else need to be done? I guess oil/water cooling has to be upgraded significantly? What about oilpump/waterpump?

3)Gearbox wise, will it blow itself apart? The evo gearboxes look so tiny compared to the R32-R34 ones. Any valuable insight on gearbox for 500hp? New clutch is a no-brainer.

4) I will get a cage (at leat half cage), but what about the brakes? Do you recomend upgraded calipers/disk or only disk and pads?

5) Suspension? Is stock one decent, or a pile of ****?

6) Anything else i have forgotten? Just want to have a reliable, not overly expensive tracktoy!!

I know, lots of questions, lol.

Any helps is very much appreciated...

Gus

Hi Gus!
Hopefully some evo6 owners will chime in with some experience with suspension and such.
For horsepower, it depends on where you want your powerband.
What kind of track use?
Are you on a tight budget?
I'm not sure about the trans in an evo 6. But 7-9 will handle the power output you've described.
Cooling(water) and oiling systems are fine.
I recommend viewing the dyno section. Various turbos and other combinations have been tested and the data is there for you to see.
