My first Evo. Anyone know the car?

Hey guys, I've always liked evo's and have owned many many different tuner cars over the years but just purchased my first Evo today.
The car is a 2003 evo VIII
I bought the car for great deal one reason being i know zero on the history or whats done to the vehicle due to it being a trade in at a dealership
It seems somewhat modified so i figured theres a chance the previous owner may have been or is a member here
Miles are about 140k but the exterior and interior look as if it has 40k.
The vehicle has some kind of what seems to be 3" TBE (will know for sure tomorrow when it gets on the lift)
A intake of some kind
Aftermarket upper and lower intercooler piping
A MBC hitting about 25psi WOT
Not sure if the Turbo itself is the factory one or not
The car may have a set of cams in it as it resembles a vehicle i drove with 272's (very loopy idle)
The car needs a clutch asap. It slips at anything close to half throttle or high RPM's.
What would you guys do (besides not buying a evo you know 0 about the history on) in terms of trying to figure out exactly whats done to the vehicle?
Let me know if someone recognizes the car or can tell me what they see from the pics.

First off there is not a 03 Evo Mr. Period. So that should throw a red flag. I would do a Compression test, feel the play on the turbo, without the clutch being gd its hard to get a feel of how the car acts under boost.

From what I have put together, the car has been owned by the past few years by someone who was what i believe a "tech" at a dealership in Fitchburg MA. The car his been here in my area for about a year and a half or so. Before that it was in the NY/NJ area.....

Yea i was confused by the MR thing. The car pulls hard until it gets into high boost and just slips. I can tell this thing is fast. This is coming from someone who daily drives a 09 z06 that makes 491rwhp so I have a little idea of a somewhat quick street vehicle.

It also has a launch control 2-step type setup at around 5800 RPM so I am assuming the obvious that there has been some type of tune or ecu flash

I'm pretty sure there's a how to on that dash panel somewhere on here. Maybe that will lead you to the last owner. Nice car.

Did you get a Carfax? Check with Dynotech. See if the car was tuned there before. The gauge pods are pretty unique. Like PatricksEvilEvo said, check to see if there's a "how-to" for that.

And welcome to the Evo world. Good to see another from my old neck of the woods.

No shop I know of keeps records by vin. I bought mine from a dealer and already tried that, in fact I know my car was built by AMS and they can't do anything unless I have a last name of the original owner. I searched for the how to on the dash and I was thinking of one where the guy used 4 gauges so that won't help you.

Tuning shops might not be able to find it by vin, but something like that gauge pod sticks out. Yeah, its an evo and a lot of people tune evos but how many have you seen with that gauge setup? Could be a long shot, but its a place to start.

Also, check out old for sale threads. Maybe one of the previous owners posted in there years ago? I wouldn't wanna search that much, but if I wanted to know bad enough I'd do it! Goodluck
